Hey folks. I am posting from my phone so forgive me if I'm short.

I have a stock ruckus 2007. It ran great prior to this. I have removed the stock air box and am running a UNI foam filter on the end of the stock snorkel. I can not get this thing to run past 1/8 throttle it stumbles and bogs and engine will die if I don't close the throttle.

I have the following jets here and have tried multiple combinations.

SJ: 35 (stock), 38, 42
MJ: 75S (stock), 80, 82, 85, 88, 90

The stutter/bogging just past 1/8 throttle is always there, in varying degrees all bad enough that the ruckus is not rideable.

If I full throttle it through the stumbling it eventually cleans up and feels the best with an 85 MJ. This happens above 20mph.

Any ideas what I can do to solve this?

Also forgot to mention if I stick stock jets back in and run stock air box hanging off snorkel that it runs fine no problems.

I can't run stock air box because I'm a big fat ass and need to run aftermarket shock to keep my big ass off the ground (blew stock shock 3rd time I rode it haha)

I have read them (well almost all of the first one)

And read them again. I have also read many additional threads found in the search pertaining to peoples "jetting" "uni filter" "stutter" and "bog" issues. I don't not have a post count here but I can promise you that I am a knight of the Internet Forum and am well versed in finding information. I would not have made this post had it not been for my lack of success using the various jetting combos and theories taled in these posts. I'm just looking for some input from people that have more experience with jets and open element filters than harsh words for newbz and the enter key.

All of these threads have lead me to believe that my Slow Jet should be increased. This makes the stumble "more rideable" when using the 42 slow jet (largest I have been able to locate) but it does not eliminate the stumble and it is still quite bad to ride.

The only thing that I have read about that i have yet to try is to change the snorkel for a hard pipe of some sort.

Any other thoughts or links to relavent readings would be awesome.

or shim your needle

i forgot to mention the shimming hasnt been any help either...

any recommendation on where the screw might need to be ? i've been all over the place with it without much luck.. im about to try to remake my stock airbox to fit around this new shock somehow...

You might want to GET rid of that stock snorkel and filter and use something a little larger. You may need more air.
Auto Zone sells a radiator hose for a Ford Pickup that works well along with a larger Uni filter.
Not sure of a part number but mine is stamped, AU 291 08 C.
It has an O.D. of about 1.90". You will have to cut-to-fit.

Some people also use the chrome, 90 degree sections from sink p-traps (plumbing) and add a larger filter.

Change your jets to 35 - 78 and tune from there.

Thanks for the infoz! I'll try this when I get back into town. Is that hose a good fit to the carb inlet? Or is it larger ad you just squeeze it down with the clamp?

It's a tight fit.

The mnnthbx Taurus hose is the best fit, I think.

mnnthbx makes a real nice smooth, high flow adapter bracket too for under $30. I made one out of pipe, but will upgrade to this too.

i've always thought the stock snorkel with a after market filter is stupid..u cant fully tightening up 2 soft rubber pieces air tight....try putting the filter directly on the carb for now..and see if that helps..
