Hi, All
It's been a longtime hope your all well?
I have a problem with me engine after getting caught in a heavy downpour
my engine is losing revs when applying full throttle.
It idles fine, battery / plug is fine and all leads seem connected.
Air filter is abit dirty but I've seen worst.
oil level is correct.
No f1 blinking when turning on.
I know from reading past posts these bike don't seem to like water!

If anyone could help me that would be great.

(The bike has only done 1203 miles and just changed the oil for 7th time.
It has no plastic floorboard, mudguards or indicators on board.)

TY.

1203 miles and that many oil changes :S you probably wanna quit that, try like once every 2500, and just checks before long journey...

Have you checked rollers?
Can you define the loss in Revs? does it go full Revs then down or is it just a lower maximum?
have you got a CDI installed?
Is it just in the wet or dry as well that it loses Revs?

My Zoomer loves water... lol, just not when I try to go round corners :P

Sounds like it could be getting too much air and the ECU is struggling to keep up. Maybe have a look at all your air intakes?

Thanks for replies

It only happens when It's on full revs then starts to lose power it's fine in idle and half throttle
I will check the air intakes, I have no cdi fitted and have a standard airbox.
It's baffling me why this has happened as it's has low milage and is kept in a garage.
Ben.

Hey Ben, the little girls dont like the wet, but I am perplexed by the fact you are running a standard airbox.......

In a nut shell it sounds like you have some water somewhere, most of us face the lack in power at full throttle when our Non-OEM airfilters get a little moist.

I'm going to call Valve clearances as the potential issues as the rest of your Zoomer sounds standard.

Oh and on a side note, stop changing your oil so much, I use to do mine every 400-600 miles and I am now on my 3rd engine.........

At the risk of making a stupid suggestion - your not hitting your rev limiter are you? i.e. engine hits high revs and then blips along until you back off a bit...

Yer no it's defo a problem somewhere not to happy
at risk of being blasted by Honda fans I think it's abit crap for a
bike to go heywire just cause of abit of water!

I'm gonna sell it too bloody slow anyway, got overtaken by a cow the other day, but I'd like to fix this problem,
ANY suggestions as to what bit I rip off before I take my hammer to it and end up with a box of parts.

valves clearances how to check ?
ty lads.

See I have similar problem as yourself...
I Have issues starting when the zoomer has been out in the rain.
Only recently ripping full throttle - it drops and feels like engine breaking but like you say revs drop.
I've recently replaced my grips and thought I could I tie the two together but no luck for myself either.

I've bought a new plug, just need to source a new HT lead. hopefully that will fix the damp starting.
Perhaps for us its in the throttle housing on the handle bars? - as I couldn't understand why my scoot will accelerate to well up to limiter.
However only in the furthest possible twist on the throttle it drops the revs. A Degree or too for less its fine.

ok lets think about this.....

are you hitting max speed with max revs then its blipping on WOT? If so thats your rev limiter preventing engine damage, if you have a cdi (even tho to my knowledge its technically not a cdi) you can increase the rev limiter therefore hit higher revs and get more speed out of it.

Does it lag on WOT (wide open throttle) climbing through the range or only at top speed/top revs.
In order to fault find a list of engine mods would help eg. cdi, variator, exhaust etc. hit me up via pm if you want more one on one help

I find its more of a humidty issue they have, if youve got the stockair box this shouldnt be an issue but i would check the thin rubber tubes going into it to check for cracks, leaks etc. as dampness in the PCV cant be good.
Also look for other holes leading into the airbox (not the main air feed at the bottem) as this could allow damp in. You should have , main air intake on the bottem, one tube from the head of engine for oil vapor, and one going into the PCV to flow air through the crankcase. Cant remeber the rest but il check when i get home.

You could open your airbox and check for water residue if you even think there is any take off the outside panel and the filter and leave them indoors "near" a radiator to thoughrly dry them out. If you do this try and plug the hose between the throttlebody and the airbox to stop dust etc. coming into the open pipe, i use a soft rag or cling film and an elastic band.

I'm on a borrowed PC in sunny South africa where internet rates are really high, so I didnt read everything, but if youre already suspecting your airfilter, that is where I would start.
Just saying......

Hi all,
I took the bike for a ride today and got up to the impressive 28mph.
It seems fine as long as I don't twist all the way, but as soon as I do
the engine starts losing power and jerks to full then back again.

Is there a fuel filter on this bike I had a look could not see one.

It was all going good until that rain!
The bike is stock minus all the plastic and indicators.
ty.

There is a huge fuel fliter inside the tank, but I doubt that is your problem.
But you might have water in your tank if you say that is was standing outside in the rain. When you remove the plastics, the key hole on the tank is not water tight.

Hi alls,
Quick update/ question.
The bike is still losing power But runs fine as long as I don't twist the throttle all the way back.
Has anyone had a faulty throttle assembly?
This is confusing me as why I can't find the problem.

Also Dave/bishop (if your reading this) are there any parts I should get on the off chance it's a engine issue I could get from Honda?

Thanks guys, (for any input.)

Ben.

P.s. How's the riding in the big smoke heard there's been some rain?
Coming over in the next couple of weeks want to rent a monster 696,
but not if it's bloody Pissing down all the time!
Peace.
