Anyone know what you have to do to bring a scoot to Japan?

I'm heading to Japan prolly in a few months. What is involved in bringing my scoot? I know that to bring cars or big bikes it is a royal pain in the @ss and expensive. What about scoots? Or would I just be better off buying Zoomer when I get there? Thanks guys!

ruckmonkey, there was a thread recently, describing how a guy who moved to japan temporarily (military) jumped through hoops that were on fire to register his ruckus over in japan. the military even paid for shipping and all.

i think he concluded (or people advised him strongly) that it's much easier, cheaper, and faster to buy a zoomer there and then sell it once you leave.

there was something about registering a ruckus that's nearly impossible to do, but i can't remember what.

Got it. Yeah... I'm literally going to be doing the same exact thing. Well, I guess I'll just have to pick up a Zoomer when I get there.

take your ruck with you
buy a zoomer frame off yahoo auctions, and swap the front frame. BAM zoomer for liek 150 bucks

Yo, that was me and it was hell! I finally got the plates and all on it, and ride occassionally. Off base is still a bit crazy--consider driving in Lower Manhattan, NYC on your Ruck, and you'll get the idea. What part of Japan are you going to PCS to? I can probably give you some details, etc if you decide you want to bring it over.

If you work in japan it is cheap to buy a zoomer here. But if you wanna pay converting your dollars, it is painful since a dollar equals 89 yen here today :cry:

i was wondering and heard the same thing before i pcs here to okinawa and i ended up not bringing my ruck but learned the rules are different for 49cc so kind of regretting it now cause i am gonna buy a zoomer here and really dont need two when that money could go to my gy6 fatty swap but hey i miss riding too much
