Post subject: Trading my Helix for a Big Ruckus, I need some Diagrams
PostPosted: Sun Nov 20, 2011 5:40 pm
Is there a site like the one for the Helix at: http://mpsracing.net/helix-manual/ for the Big Ruckus?

I cant seem to find the bike on Bikebandit which is where I usually go for diagrams when I cant find them anywhere else.

I need to re-assemble this bike.

Just about every piece of plastic is off the top of the side and, Horn cover is off, Left cover (as standing behind the bike) is off, I've set plastics back on it where I think they mostly go. I'm missing the speedometer and the dash where the lights must clip into. Looks like I'm also missing the parking brake handle and what appears to maybe be the plastic tray to go under the flip-up seat section.

Not 100% sure how the hardware for releasing the seat should go on, the rails are not attached to the frame currently, Which side should the release be on and which end should it poke out of? I'm guessing left side rear (as standing behind the bike facing it)

Wow! That B.R. needs ALOT OF WORK! Check with your local Honda Motorcycle Dealer website! There should be info on the Parts and Diagrams you're looking for! Good Luck with the Build!

A BR Service manual should shed some light... and somebody is parting out a BR on eBay....

PO took it apart to clean the carburetor as it quit running, Got the carb off and stopped there.

Hopefully it won't take too much to get it back to life as I traded my running bike for it! :headbashing:

Good to see you around Bald John, that looks like a considerable jigsaw puzzle. You'll like it once it is together, the long wheelbase and flip up seat is nice for cruising on the highway.

Sorry I had you mixed up with the other John. Tell Bald John that Warren from Omaha says hello and I'm still using his jetting on my Fireball.

Got the bike running yesterday! :banger:

Cleaned the carb, Put a new NGK in from the Autozone up the street, Drained and replaced both the engine and transmission oil, drained and replaced the coolant (Now that i'ts running I need to top up the coolant) stole the battery out of my Helix and she sputtered to life.

Ordered new air filters from the Honda dealer, Went for the K&N. Ordered some jets too off the internet, Hopefully both will be here in the next couple days so I can put the bodywork on the bike. Dont want to put it on only to have to take it back off again.

She's slooooow off the line and seems to have some big flat spots in the power curve, I'm used to my Stella where I whack the throttle full open and take off like a rocket. I think the air filters might be the one the bike came with.

~4400 miles on the odometer, I put about 37 on it last night riding around in the cold and dark like an idiot.

Love the lights on the bike, and the seat is pretty comfortable. :D

Take a look at some of the performance threads, I think they're stickied at the top of one of the sub-forums here.

But at first guess, what you're describing sounds like some of the normal performance issues an un-tuned BR has.

Be sure to check the valves too, there's a post on doing a hot-adjust on the valves, doing that will make more of a difference in performance than you might think.
