NEW YORK SCOOTER BLOCKPARTY: SEVEN DEADLY SCOOTS! 06/09/12


EVERYONE IS INVITED TO ATTEND THIS FREE EVENT. ALL SCOOTERS WELCOME.

The BlockParty is a fun event that's all about getting to know your fellow scooterists and riding, riding, riding your scooter. Great rides, music, food, beer, patches, t-shirts, a slow race and a raffle can be expected.

Events take place at various venues around the NYC metropolitan area...

SCHEDULE FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 9TH:

9:30 AM: RIDE TO BROOKLYN -- If you're unfamiliar with the outer boroughs, meet at THE BRASS MONKEY (55 Little West 12th Street, New York, NY) for an escort to Vespa Brooklyn.

10:00 AM: MEETUP & BREAKFAST AT VESPA BROOKLYN (215 Park Avenue, Brooklyn, NY) -- Meet your fellow riders, enjoy a light breakfast courtesy of Vespa Brooklyn, and pick up a BlockParty t-shirt and patch, rally swag, and raffle tickets (available all day, while supplies last).

11:00 AM: RIVER RIDE -- Depart from Vespa Brooklyn for a scenic ride along both banks of the Hudson, with a break for lunch in Piermont, NY. Suitable for scooters 125cc and up.
RIDE LEADS: ALAN & BECCA
RIDE EXPERIENCE: Moderate (there will be some stretches of open road at speed, some steep hills and winding roads, and a short jaunt on the highway to cross the river)

11:15 AM: BEACH RIDE -- Ride leaves Vespa Brooklyn for the pristine shores of Coney Island. Enjoy the rides, sun, sand, surf, carnies, and a Nathan's hot dog. Suitable for all scooters.

RIDE EXPERIENCE: Beginner to Moderate

4:00 PM: FOOD, MUSIC & FUN AT SCOOTER BOTTEGA (65 Union Street Brooklyn, NY) -- Both rides arrive at Scooter Bottega for a block party. Enjoy food, drink, and DJs, as well as the slow race competition and raffle.

8:00 PM: TIMES SQUARE NIGHT RIDE, PART 1 -- Big night ride leaves Scooter Bottega for meetup point in Manhattan.
8:30 PM: TIMES SQUARE NIGHT RIDE, PART 2 -- Didn't catch the ride from Brooklyn? Riders from Scooter Bottega will pause at THE BRASS MONKEY (55 Little West 12th Street, New York, NY) to pick up other scooterists for a ride up the West Side and to and through Times Square. This is a New York tradition, so don't miss it.

9:30 PM: HIT THE TOWN -- After the Times Square ride, we'll be heading to scooterist-owned CROWN VICTORIA bar (60 South 2nd St, Brooklyn, NY). Secure scooter parking will be provided in the courtyard. If you'll be drinking, leave the scoot and take the subway.

I've rode all winter the past two but the snow and ice seems to stick around longer here than it did in Providence. There we would have single digit temps but no snow so the roads didnt ice in the same way.

Did you end up selling the jeep?

Not too close, but there are lots of places within 2 hrs

I was hoping you had some spot near by.

I brought my dirtbikes up to my parents place in southern VT because I kept getting looks from my neighbors when I took them out on the street.

In Westport? No kidding! Surprised SWAT didn't show up.
