Capt.- I live downtown and know of a couple of other guys that would be up for a ride when the weather warms up. I've seen a few other Ruckus riders around, but only a handful. It would be great to meet up and have a long ride somewhere. What have you done to your scoot?

Today I got my stock '09 Ruckus registered and plated as a motorcycle with the state of Virginia. What this means....I have insurance... I can exceed the 35mph mandated state speed limit for vehicles under 50cc...I can use my Ruckus to pass the DMV skills test and get a (M)otorcycle class operators designation.....With my M class I can drive any bike I want. M class is M class...My motorcycle designation allows me to ride on state highways.(ain't doing that)....There is discussion in Virginia to have stepped designation. Moped, scooter, under 500cc, over 500cc etc.
-If you have your M designation you will be grandfathered in.
-Because my bike is classified as a motorcycle, is insured and plated it is more likely to be returned to me after it is recovered should it be stolen.
- If you do a big bore or a swap, you will already be classified as a motorcycle. It can be difficult to change classes without first being designated a motorcycle.

The least you should do have liability insurance on your Ruckus. If you don't and get pulled over for doing 36mph.... the police can impound your Ruckus as an uninsured motorcycle. If you don't have a M class on your license, they will nail you with that also. After that it could be difficult to get insurance.

My biggest concern is that our state will go the way of Maryland and outlaw Citizens privilage of transportation of choice. Fuck the cars and the SUV's. Why should we be mandated as a lesser vehicle without equal consideration?

Thanks for the new sig line!

I have D. All of the above
I have a BR though so I had to get the works. It is cool that you can use your
ruck to take the MC test! I was stoked I could use the BR for mine...makes is very
easy and you can ride any bike now.

Nice day for a ride in Richmond. Almost 60 degrees and sunny. Went to Chioccas and ate some Oysters, rode downtown to Poes Pub for a beer. Didn't see a single scooter all day, but there were a bunch of motorcycles out. I am really looking forward to Spring.

You are welcome to come on down this summer...It is a 675 mile ride. If you do make it down, I'll turn you onto these crispy strips of pork we call "Bacon".

By the way it is another 60 degree day and sunny. Took a ride downtown to visit City Hall. Sorry for all you employed suckers at work, although you're not broke like me!

No Sawman...B-A-C-O-N...Not the stuff they put on pizza with Pineapple when they want to make it Hawaiian. But stop by anyway and enjoy some Southern hospitality in RVA...I am sure we can probably agree on Whiskey.

I get off work at 3pm on Saturday if anyone wants to take a lil scoot around Richmond. Supposed to be at least 60! Let me know if anyone wants to meet up here at Honda House at 3?
