You have a point, j costa with as much commuting as you do on that thing probably wouldn't be the most cost effective. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner but I have my old perfectly fine amorphous motor with about 4k miles on it I could have sold ya for cheap, but the route you are going is defiantly worth the extra $ now all you need is a front cowl cover to give that thing sex appeal like this
Image I want that and this soooo bad

but I think there is a communication barrier i.e. I email them they never respond lol.

Heh ... I don't know, a shiny plastic seat? Seems hard and slippery. I like the front cowling though. What do they run for? I am gonna get some spray cans and make a custom paint job on mine though. Flames!

Anyway, the job is just about done. After writing this, I am headed to the auto parts store to get fluids and fire it up. No muffler yet though, so it will be loud as hell. It is still floating in USPS limbo somewhere out there. At least I can see how it runs...

So far I did have to do a couple of small modifications, and I still have not put the air box on yet. I might have to fashion some brackets for it or something. I put an '05 engine in an '06 morphous. There is this egr gizmo that I had to move away from the engine a tad because the outlet hose wanted to go into one of the engine mounts. See attached.

Also attached I have a picture of the bottom of the majesty air box. Circled is a small vacuum inlet of some kind that I don't know what to do with. I cannot find anything on the engine that goes to it. I plan on putting a plug there. Any ideas?

So, bracket modification for the egr doohicky, perhaps some more brackets to hold the air box, and definately some brackets for the majesty muffler, when it arrives. Other than that, it was pretty straightforward.

I will report back with my results once I fire it up. I will tape my fingers crossed between now ant then.

Here are the brackets ...

aaaand here is the vacuum thingie ...

EDIT: THE BEAST IS RUNNING!

I took it for a little spin and it performed really well! I had no muffler so I felt a little silly riding around on a harley scooter. I was setting off car alarms left and right. It performs with a lot more power throughout the power band right up to 80mph. I did not take it faster, but it had a LOT more room to go faster, but I don't know if I will be doing that. I can see doing ninety from time to time out on the open road, but here in Los Angeles, there isn't too much room for it.

It does seem to be a bit laggy right off the line compared to how it was before, but I guess that would be attributed to the higher gear ratio. Perhaps with no muffler, low end suffers a bit because of a lack of exhaust pressure. I am not sure. What are your experiences?

I think I will just leave the air box as is, as far as brackets go. Attached to the intake, it seems to sit reasonably solid.

Your air intake and exhaust are ABSOLUTELY crucialto make tha thing run properly!.... :wc_flag:

That 400 Majesty motor should feel like "HOLY FUCKIN SHIT".....compard to a 250 !

get that intake set-up as close to stock asthe Majesty it came out of,....same for the the exhaust,...get your base-line set,....then start messing with it "one thing at a time" after.

When I did the 600 s'wing swap into my BR, I left everything stock for the 1st season, 2nd season started playing with clutches,...next will be an exhaust, and a Dyno-jet commander,...keep track as you go,....but you GOTTA get the basics down :canuck:

I think I will just leave the air box as is, as far as brackets go. Attached to the intake, it seems to sit reasonably solid.

I got my muffler today and made a few brackets to install it. The bike is definitely quite a bit faster than before. There is that slight lag off the line up to about 12 mph compared to the 250 though. I would think it is because of the higher gear ratio. Once I am rolling a little bit the thing grabs a hold and really gets moving. Much peppier.

I am hearing some clickety-clack from the valve train as well. Do they make shims for valve adjustments on '05 majesty engines? Is this normal for this particular engine? Also, the coolant temperature light keeps coming on. I have only taken it for a couple test rides around the neighborhood. I am going to pull and test the thermostat tomorrow... Perhaps there is still air in the cooling system? I kinda don't think so.

you will have to post pictures of the exhaust, I am interested what route you went, hard to find a good one for under 500.

I had some bubbles in the coolant but once it belched it out it wanted more coolant then it was good to go, best of luck, and as far as I have read up on these yamaha engines they don't' have valves you can adjust they are hydro er something along those lines, could be a generalization or confusing with the honda engines, but I believe it was yamahas.

I just took mine out for a longish test ride yesterday then let it sit in the garage while running to check for leaks. The cooling fan kicked on which it did only once with the 250 on a hot day inside a parking garage. The temperature light did not come on. I think the 400 just runs hotter and idling while stopped will really get it heated up.

Out of curiosity, I checked the Yamaha parts for the radiator assembly and compared the 250 Morphous and the 400 Majesty. Well, the part number (5RU-12461-00-00) is identical....they both have the same radiator!

I still have mine running great without a hitch. Just getting relocated with a new job so I'll be selling it though. :meh:

Mine is running great too. I did a trip this past weekend from Naperville to Milwaukee (Moto Scoot) for a scooter rally. Running at 70-75mph on the highway is no problem for the engine as there was plenty more throttle remaining. The issue now is the shock travel and tire diameter. Those speeds really require a better suspension setup for more stability. But hey, its a scooter made for around town travel and its great for that. The 400 swap was worth the effort and I'd do it again.
