Dudes,....I'm not trying to be a "stick in the mud",.....but I'm going to say 'point blank', I won't be camping. There's no way I'm riding that far, to 'not have a shitter & shower',.....if you look thru the 2008, 2009, 2010 NC CON.s, you will see one consistency from me,....I want a decent clean room, so I can dry-out, warm-up, and sleep when needed....so,....thats where I stand on that,...no bending,....sorry,...I'll ride my ass thru hell & back in rain, sun, and HAIL,...but I'm not down for camping,...this allllll started-out as a "vaction-get-away" for the Canadian to come to NC,....& i hate to tell y'all,...it aint about to change..... :canuck:

I agree with Vince....I'm not much into camping. Some campgrounds have cabins that are pretty decent....might be worth checking into. If we are going to be doing camping AND motels again next year, they need to be VERY close to one another to promote the socializing, logistics of getting rides going, and limit the amount of riding people are doing after/while drinking.

Looks like the poll is coming down to the wire. When is the end date on the poll so we can make a final decision?

I'm going to make every effort I can to make it down with you all next year. I've been missing out on way too much fun over the past couple of years and it has been killing me. I'd prefer the hotel-motel sorta thing too but I'm also dying to jam with Ed, Nik and Pete in Ed's cool-ass steel building/garage/quonset hut. And, of course, wherever the Jack is flowing. :D

I have a feeling we are more voting on the order of things for the next two years than just where to party next year...

We'll ruck out both cities It's just do we beach out next year or the year after...

I think we need to do it next year because due to climate change the beach may be under water by 2013... :wasted:

the reason i brought up camping and cabins/motel was the fact that we talked about it at Eds and camping brings people who normally couldnt make it because of $75+/night on a hotel.. camping is a cheaper alternative to those who come to ride and care less about shower/shitter/etc.. lol.. but Ed already stated that Vince would have to have a hotel room.. thats why i would look for a campground with cabins.. that would be kinda cool..

I saw one hotel that was like $130 a night in the Folly Beach area Will mentioned, I believe it was a La Quinta Inn...the rest were $200-$300 per night...lol

Yea it's kind of expensive but it is on the beach. I was thinking about a beach house. Or a condo that a lot of people could stay at. Or we can stay a little further away from the beach for a cheaper rate. Either way, if we have a year (or two) to plan, we can all save our money for a decent hotel.

shove 5 people or more into a room and the rates are cheaper. That's $26 per night. For 3 nites, that is $78 per person for a hotel room. Save $5 a week and ya got room and gas money for CON.

Some people give me & Vince shit for sharing a room, but it is simple economics. In GBO it was 70 /nite and we split it. More people = less money.
There are cheap hotels in both cities, as long as there are no bugs and critters crawling around we're good. Let's get together somewhere and ride, wrench, drink and have fun.

we also discussed renting a big cabin.. everyone pitch in.. however if we were to do that.. we would have to have deposits and the like which then means if someone couldnt make it then it would change.. etc.. i think we keep it camping/hotel.. if someone wants to room with someone else thats fine.. save $ that way.. either way we cross that bridge when we get there

If we end up in the Charleston area, we should consider the James City County Campground. That is midway between downtown Charleston and Folly Beach. It is a great campground....plenty of tent camping sites, sites with hook-ups for anyone with a camper, and they have a few nice big cabins that aren't fancy....but could accommodate several people to keep cost down. Only problem might be noise since these bigger organized campgrounds usually have a rule about excessive noise to protect the non-partiers on the premesis. Also don't know if alcohol is allowed there.

That is a big problem for campgrounds. Most of them alcohol is not allowed and they lock the gates at a certain time. That has been the major reason we haven't camped before this year.

Sorry...I messed up on the name of the park. It is actually called James Island County Park. I looked on their website and it says that alcohol is allowed upon approval of some sort of application....I am inquiring as to what that means. This place may not be ideal for our purposes...I'm just throwing it out there for consideration. I have been there twice with my family and it is a nice facility and the location is perfect for our group. However, I'm afraid the rules of this park are more oriented toward families rather than our rowdy group!

hey, Capt. Will....maybe you could run by there sometime and scope it out.
