 Post subject: 11 Pole Stator. Do you have these wires???
PostPosted: Wed Apr 25, 2012 5:50 pm
There is unfortunately no GY6 11 pole stator thread I can find that answers the questions and issues I've been having. Anyone with a working 11 pole setup, please chime in. I got mine from Scrappy, both the stator and rectifier sold as 11-pole devices. Here is what I've been dealing with so far...

The rectifier still has 5 wires and looks similar to others (like the one from Standard Functions - http://standardfunctions.com/store/inde ... ifier.html), but the wires are different colors and there's only one plug. Based on the similarities with the SF and other models, and wiring layout, would this wiring scheme make sense...

Rectifier:
Yellow, Black, White = AC in from stator
Green = Ground
Red = Pos battery for charge

Stator:
Yellow, Pink, White = AC to rectifier
Green = Ground
Blue/white = Trigger
Red = CDI charge

Both came from Scrappy, and both were sold specifically as 11 pole devices. They couldn't offer any assistance with the wiring, so I'm hoping someone here can help. In doing some extensive searching, there's mixed reviews, but the typical 3 yellows on the other stators seem to have been replaced with the yellow, pink, and white on this particular brand. And it's definitely an 11 pole stator btw. Would the colors on the rectifier go to the places outlined above? I'd like to get some sort of feedback before hooking it up and potentially frying something, then having to buy all new stuff again. Figured I'd post here before starting a new thread. Seems to be a lot of mystery to the different types of 11 pole setups that could use some clarification.

Thanks!

So, this theory does not work. The engine cranks, but does not have spark. I get average 1 AC volt from the stator on yellow, white, and pink, and a DC volt blip on the blue white and red. To me that sounds right, but I really have no idea. I re-checked all grounds. I think I either fried the CDI, the stator is bad from the factory (or not the right one), or more than likely, the rectifier is not the right one. But then again, what does the rectifier have to do with the coil and spark?

I'm thinking I might just get another proven 11 pole rectifier from somewhere else (where?), and maybe a spare CDI just in case.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Awesome. How many wires does your stator have, and what are the colors?

I assume this is all actually working and all too, yes? lol

Yea works good for me with no problems. My stator has 1plug 4wires and of course the power and ground wires. Not sure on the colors but i can post a pic tomoro morning.

I've got the same as you, OP. Guess we gotta figure out the function of each wire by color. Joy of joys.

I got the same set up from scrappy and couldn't get it to work. I switched to the set up that fender cycles sells. Also, a bit of FYI... The blue pig tail "racing" CDI from scrappy didn't work on my bike either. Well, it worked but the bike was very hard to get started. I switched to the orange "performance" CDI and it runs and starts perfectly. The ignition curve of the racing CDI was to stout or something and had the same affect on my bike (200cc) and my GF's (stock 150), just couldnt get them started very easily.

Yea, I run the orange CDI from Scrappy too. It's been great so far, but now I've got no spark. Still don't know if I fried it or not.

So far, I've seen these three rectifiers sold as 11-pole models:

Scrappy's (about 1/3 down the page)
http://www.scrappydogscooters.com/125_1 ... PARTS.html

Standard Functions
http://standardfunctions.com/store/inde ... ifier.html

PartsForScooters
http://www.partsforscooters.com/100-171 ... r_7pin_GY6

The Scrappy and SF ones both have 5 wires, but the SF has 3 yellow, a green, and a red, as opposed to Scrappy's yellow, green, black, red, and white. I've tried the Scrappy one in the same wiring layout as the SF one (best guess based on wires available) and it does not work. I can't say for sure that Scrappy's is even for an 11 pole stator since Mo could not tell me how to wire up that particular model. Plus, it does only have a single plug, not the two plugs like the other models. I assume that the one from Standard Functions has been tested and proven to work many times, but I haven't found a confirmation yet.

The PartsForScooters one (at least that design) is a sure thing based on what I've heard here (thanks este_vato), and the wiring diagrams I've seen floating around as well. The key thing is that it's a 7 wire design, not 4 or 5.

As for the stators, the Scrappy one seems to be the proper wiring, just with a single yellow, white, and pink as the AC out.
Filipinobrand posted a thread about a 4 wire, 11-pole stator. (?) No idea on that one...
The SF one seems to have the same wiring as the Scrappy model, based on what I can see in the pic on their site.

Thanks for your help, man! Can you also fill us in a bit on how it's wired, and if it's done like in the link below? I'm sure a bunch of people besides myself will greatly appreciate it.

I have been studying this wiring diagram/schematic, which seems to be getting good reviews as a working setup. Not going to [img] it because it's huge!

If anyone else is having luck with 11-pole stators and rectifiers either similar to or different from these here, please post up. I'm curious as to how many different ones there are, and also which items are working with which.

But i did forget to mention i got my rectifier from standard functions and flywheel/stator off ebay to work with the makoa scooters harness and i have a stock cdi that came with the donor harness.

Awesome, thanks!

And look what I just noticed, second from the bottom of Scrappy's 150cc common parts page...

http://www.scrappydogscooters.com/COMMON_PARTS.html

So apparently they might actually have them, but have a different one labeled as the 11-pole.

I just ordered one from PartsForScooters, so we'll see what happens when that gets here.

And when i was ordering the rectifier from ebay it had a pic of one with the 2plug. When i received the package this is what i got.. didn't want to return it so i kept it in case one of my buddys needs it. As you can see its the same rectifier as the one in the OP.

Any progress ElCaptain? I'm waiting on your results before I order replacement parts. :) No rush!

Still waiting on a 7 wire rectifier which should arrive today or tomorrow. I'm still not sure about the stator either though. It is an 11-pole, but has the yellow, white, and pink, not the 3 yellow. I'm reading all kinds of stuff about 3 phase and floating ground setups that I can't find solid answers on yet. I might just order another stator with the 3 yellows so all electrical components are new and matching. I don't want to fry anything and have to do it all over again, again...

Thanks, este_vato! That is the same rectifier I got last week that doesn't work with the stator, at least the yellow, white, pink one I got from Scrappy.

I got an email from Scrappy to do some testing on the components. I'll do that before putting all my new stuff on so we can get an answer for other folks out there...

Got this in yesterday. Waiting on another stator with 3 yellow wires so I can have all brand new components to test. In the mean time, I'm going to test with the other ones that weren't working to see if I can figure out what type of setup they're for.
