Love this thread! So after all this discussion. Did anyone have a chance on testing the Gates PL30501? I'm curious to see how 805-18-28 would work?

I did try one, briefly. It's too long, was slapping the inside of the CVT case.

I've been running a KN belt from Webike. Pretty much the same dimensions as the Kitaco for $8 less, so I thought I'd try it. I'd been pleased with the performance until this morning, when it grenaded on me! :pissed: Only had a few hundred miles on it. Luckily, nothing locked up, so no harm done. Cleaned up the mess and put my Kitaco back on. And it was quite a mess:

Forgive my Noob question, but could saving the drive face be a contributing factor to a belt breaking?

Do you mean shaving? If so, then no. Plenty of people shave their drive face

I would assume that KN and Kitaco belt are slightly longer than stock, so shaving the drive face would cause the belt to run higher on the variator(more top speed) and maybe it touched the casing.

Not a good idea. I had the Dorby variator, same as scooter ninja, It HATES slides. It ate my slides to the brass in a week. It doesn't like anything with a beveled edge. People say get Doppler rollers. MopedMotion has the in the grand bazaar. I just got a polini variator instead. Flying 54mph on sliders, it loves them. :D

Im running SN with a Daytona belt and rollers, which seems to last a decent time. Havent tried doppler rollers yet but that'll be my next purchase. Last time I rode I was hitting 45(sitting up)-47(tucked)mph on flats. So the Daytona seems to be a good pairing for the SN. My friend has a SN also, hes trying out the Polini belt but still in beginning stages of tuning weights so not sure how that'll work. I have an extra Polini belt I was going to try out on my current setup and see if anything changes.
