let the variator break in for about 100miles

and the motor does run bad when it is cold...these motors run on the lean side so when it is cold out it is even leaner, try uping a jet size

Well it ran fine all summer with the exhaust so all I really added was the filter and lighter weights because I figured that I could easily change the filter back out to the stock tomorrow or whenever easier than I could change the variator out. The cold really moist air really has seemed to affect it a lot so I'm not in a hurry to re jet it especially because it is hardly ever this cold for this long here.

Give it time - Ruck engines, at least with the stock jetting, don't like the cold IMHO. I lose a lot of power below 30*F, and it barely even runs below 10*F.

I appreciate this kind of info guys!!! I admit I got carried away with adding more than one performance mod but really I was thinking along the lines of DaBinChe. Jason at BSS had said that in his opinion they usually ran a hair rich. But he didn't know I had the after market exhaust or that it was as cold as it is here so I was debating if I was going to need to up one jet size or two. Also I'd been debating the 20mm slide carb so I wasn't sure I wanted to order a slew of jets just yet. On top of all that I also have to sheepishly admit that after busting my knucks working on the scoot in the cold the other night i just didn't feel like staying outside any longer to pull and check the plug.
Again I really appreciate the feedback.

Well I ended up just breaking down and ordering a Posh CDI, so now my question is, what is the recomended roller weight setup for an '05 ruck with KN variator and Posh CDI for a 6'2" 235lb rider? I tried searching, but I'm havin trouble finding a clear answer

Anyone?

I don't know how well the KN works for a rider in the 230 lb range. The best thing to do is start out with the lightest rollers (5.0) and progressively put heavier ones in. You want the best balance of acceleration and topspeed for your bike.

Just a little update... I installed a mix of 5.5s an 5s the other day and lost about 2mph on the top end from the 6 gram I had before. I weigh 195 and am 6'4' (lotta wind resistance) and hit my rev limiter at just a hair over 38 where before it was more like the 41 range. I didn't feel like the gains in accel were enough to warrant the top speed loss so I'm gonna try a 5.5 and 6 mix. If that is decently better than I'll stick with that weight setup but buy the DR PULLEY sliders for that little bit of accel boost.
Hope that helps you. P.S. Check your rollers frequently for wear. My 6s were shot at 400 miles!

so just to confirm, you were hitting 41 with 6 gram rollers in an KN variator? I figure you're close enough in size to me, so I will have to give it a shot again with the 6 grams

yeah 41-42 something like that, but the get-up-n-go wasn't much better than stock at 6g. At least that's what it felt like compared to stock but who knows. I have no Veypor to make the comparison with. Now that I have a proper variator tool I'm better equipped to play around with weights and make comparisons.
